Effective date: May 25, 2026 · Version 1.1

Watchd ("we", "our", "the app") is a movie and TV tracking application. We respect your privacy and only collect what is strictly necessary to operate the service. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we process and your rights — and is written to align with Apple's App Privacy disclosures so it matches the labels you see in the App Store.

1. Summary

2. Data we collect (Apple App Privacy categories)

The categories below mirror the ones Apple uses on the App Store product page.

Contact Info — linked to you

User Content — linked to you

Identifiers — linked to you

Diagnostics — not linked to you

3. Data we do NOT collect

4. How we use your data

We do not perform analytics, profiling, behavioural advertising, or tracking as defined under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

5. How your data is stored

Account and library data is stored using Supabase, which provides authentication and encrypted database hosting on cloud infrastructure (data may be processed in the United States and Europe). Data in transit is encrypted with TLS, and data at rest is encrypted by the cloud provider.

Movie and TV metadata (titles, posters, descriptions) is fetched from TMDB via our own server proxy. Your personal identifiers are never shared with TMDB.

6. Data retention

7. Account deletion

Per Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v), Watchd offers in-app account deletion. To delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Open Watchd and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Account.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Deletion is permanent and removes your authentication identity, profile, and every tagged film from our servers and from the device. As a fallback, you may email support@watchd.app from the address tied to your account and we will process the deletion within 7 days.

8. Third-party services

9. International data transfers

If you are outside the United States or the European Union, your data may be transferred to and processed in those regions. We rely on standard contractual clauses provided by our infrastructure vendors to safeguard the transfer.

10. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app via Settings → Account, or by emailing support@watchd.app.

11. Children's privacy

Watchd is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Watchd after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

13. Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints: email support@watchd.app. We respond within 1–2 business days.
